What is "Trained"? Minimize

To be considered Trained, A Cub Scout Leader MUST complete the following:

1) Leader "Fast Start" Training  - for their position - available on the web at https://myscouting.scouting.org/Pages/Home.aspx.

2) "This is Scouting" Web Course (also available on the web at https://myscouting.scouting.org/Pages/Home.aspx. ) or have completed New Leader Essentials.

3) "Cub Scout Leader Essentials" or "CLE" - Composed of "Introduction to Cub Scouting" and "How we have Fun" (Classroom)

4) "Leader-Specific Training" for their position (Classroom)

5) "Youth Protection Training" or "YPT"  (On-line and Classroom) On-line https://myscouting.scouting.org/Pages/Home.aspx

If you are changing from one leader position to another and you are “trained” in your current role then you only need to take the Leader Specific session for your new role to become “trained” for it. This is true even if your prior training was conducted by a different district.

Webelos Leaders SHOULD complete the outdoor course prior to taking their Webelos camping, but it is not required to be considered "trained".  (It IS required to earn your Webelos Leader Knot!)

To give the participants a taste of the camping experience, we schedule this course as an overnight camp-out.

Wood Badge Minimize

21st Century Wood Badge is the premier adult leadership development course for the Boy Scouts of America. Wood Badge teaches contemporary leadership and team-building skills in a comfortable outdoor setting, where learners become members of their own Troop. Wood Badge’s effectiveness as an effective leadership development experience has been applauded by industry training professionals. Its positive influence on graduates’ individual unit-level program is unparalleled.

Wood Badge is, first and foremost, learning by doing.
Participants in the course are formed first into a Pack, bridge over into a Troop, and finally are inducted into a Venturing Crew, just as Scouts move up through the Scouting program. The courses are open to all adult Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity, and Venturing leaders and district and council volunteers that have completed Basic Training for their position and are capable of handling the hectic, physically demanding course schedule.

Nationally famous training professionals and volunteers updated the Wood Badge syllabus in 2001 to provide the best methods to adult Scouters for teaching leadership and delivering program to their youth.
