What can the District DO FOR YOU?????

Gee whiz, this recruiting stuff is getting hard and EXPENSIVE!  How can the District help out?

Good question!  The District really can help the individual Pack defray some of the associated costs of the increased expenses related to recruiting.  Here’s how!

1.  Take advantage of all the print materials the District has to offer!  The District will provide you with flyers, postcards, posters, stickers, yard-signs, video announcements (VHS or DVD), mini-Boys Life magazines, and parent information cards!  See the separate article on “Print Materials Order Form” on the Membership page of the Great Plains District web-site.

If you submit this form prior to July 15 (hopefully turn it in at the Roundtable on July 5th), AND attend the JSN Training session on August 9, we will have your order all pre-packed for you …. Eliminating the need to stand in a long line!

These materials (currently under design so I can’t show you a picture) are well done, full color and very attractive.  Last year’s campaign was centered on a “Race to Cub Scouting” theme.  This year’s theme may be the same or revised, but these are good quality materials.

2.  The District will mail (with First Class Postage), using the purchased PISD mailing list, a postcard invitation to JSN to all the eligible boys in your school area.  You can have input into the information on the postcard, and can amend the mailing list (i.e., eliminate out going 5th graders and potentially incoming 5th graders as well).  You just need to co-ordinate with Jim Sullivan, District Executive.

3.  The District can also help you with mailing your own flyer or postcard.  Full color printing is NOT available; but the District can print using black ink on colored paper.  These mailings will be sent out using First Class postage.  Alternatively, you can print your own full color flyer/postcard and ask the District to provide the postage. Right now, the District can just do the postcard.

The KEY to all this is to give yourself and the District enough LEAD TIME to get the printing and mailings done.  Make a plan at your unit level and discuss it with Jim Sullivan.

Remember:  A SCOUT IS THRIFY!  So, the District can only provide a limited number of mailings per unit per year.  Think of the best way to maximize everyone’s resources and generate the most effective mailing.

If you have questions, please contact Jim Sullivan, District Executive, at jsulliva@bsamail.org or Debra Copley, District Membership Chair, at debra@dacopley.com
