District & Unit Web Hosting provided by BearTech

Great Plains District - Boy Scouts of America BSA - Circle 10 -
            Plano Tx

Welcome the the Great Plains District Web Hosting Program
Powered by Bear Technologies Corporation

The Great Plains District has teamed up with Bear Technologies Corporation to provide a complete web page and email hosting solution for your Troop or Pack. This package includes Domain name, web hosting, email accounts for key positions and email list server service for your Troop/Pack use. All aspects of the site are managed by you. That means you can add or delete mail boxes, web page administrators, email lists, etc. when you need to.

This package includes:

Your own domain name – Pack???.GreatPlainsBsa.org or Troop???.GreatPlainsBsa.org

If you already have your own domain name, you can point it to the new address. Using this domain name eliminates the requirement to have a name registered with an Internet Registrar and paying the associated fees. Having a registered name is also complicated by the fact that the leadership is in constant flux, registered email addresses become invalid and passwords are lost making changes to the name difficult.

Web Hosting

Your site will be hosted at the Bear Technologies data center in Plano. With fiber optic facilities and multiple connections to the Internet, your site will be available when you need it and have the performance you need. FTP and FrontPage access are supported as are ASP, CGI and PHP.  Package includes 50Mb of space.1

Email Accounts

Your Troop/Pack will get 20 email addresses to be used for key positions.  For example: Cubmaster@Pack???.GreatPlainsBsa.org. Set up addresses for key leadership positions or even for key roles like Pinewood derby chair. By using generic email addresses and forwarding to the ultimate users regular address you derive two benefits. First the email address for leaders do not change from year to year as leadership changes, merely change the address it forwards to. Second, it makes it easier for people to remember key addresses when they all follow the same format. For those that do not have an alternate email address, they can use one of the mailboxes as a regular POP3 mailbox.

Email List Server – An email list server allows you to create mailing lists to easily and quickly send emails to everyone in your Troop/Pack. Create a list for leaders, the entire Troop/Pack, individual Dens, etc. Users can subscribe and unsubscribe from the list at will. Lists are easy to remember because they are associated with your site name, for example: Leaders@Troop???.GreatPlainsBsa.org

Need to create a new mailbox, change a forwarding address, create or modify an email list? No problem, you can do it yourself!  Click Here for more help on creating and managing your site.

So what does this all cost? $ 25.00 / school year (August - August)
